Bumped by a Celebrity

As you may know, I was recently supposed to sing the National Anthem at the Bees game. Last night, in fact.  I was really excited for it.  Then about two weeks ago, I got a call from Chance, a nice employee in the Bees' front office.  He said, quote "Somebody is coming into town on May 19, and it's the only time they'll be in town all season, and we would really like them to sing the National Anthem. Can we reschedule you? We'll give you 8 free tickets for May 19 and the day you sing."  How could I say no?

So, we rescheduled for July 22. Meanwhile, I got all excited to see who this secret celebrity was that would be singing in my place.  Several friends and family suggested that it could possibly be David Archuleta.  I thought it was a possibility.  I went to the game last night nice and early, eager to see who it would be!

So who was it, you ask?  Well, as game time approached, the announcer came over the PA system and said "Please rise and remove your caps, as the Salt Lake Bees welcome Clay Earl Jackson, as he sings the National Anthem."  Again, you ask, "Who?"  You know him better as...

...The Maytag Man.

That's right, I got bumped by the Maytag Man.  Insert bruised ego here.

You know, we were actually in town due to a funeral, and we had Thursday night free. We were seriously going to come see you sing, but didn't after we found out the news. I'm not surprised Jackson had the evening free for singing...it's not like he had any repairs to make. I bet youdda rocked the joint.

Who knew the Maytag Man could sing?!?! That has got to be one of the funniest things I've ever heard. You shouldn't have a bruised ego - this has had to have happened like...once in the universe? It's the other way around - YOU are special and experience something no one else ever has;)
